All references to the DG834 also apply to the DG834G. The only difference between the DG834 and the DG834G is the Wireless 802.11G access point built into the DG834G.
The VPN Wizards may differ slightly from router to router.

Gateway to Gateway VPN Configuration
(Also called a box-to-box configuration)
The purpose of a Gateway to Gateway VPN tunnel is to create a Virtual Private Network (VPN) network between LAN with no interaction necessary to the PCs on either side. No VPN client software is required on any of the PCs on either side of the LAN.
This type of VPN is often used for remote office connections to a main office.
The recommended procedure to quickly set up a VPN tunnel between the DG834 and the FVS318v3 is to use the VPN Wizard from each device’s web browser configuration window.

Overview
Before you start, you will need some basic network information.
IP LAN and WAN addresses on both sides.
The network pre-shared key that you will use to authenticate the VPN endpoints to each other. In the following example, netgear123 is used for the key.
Once you have this information, all you need to do is login to each router and enter the correct information into the appropriate fields of the VPN Wizard screens.

Want to disable NETGEAR Configuration Assistant (Welcome Screen / Hijack Screen)?

Issue:
You are redirected to the NETGEAR welcome screen (Configuration Assistant) every time you launch your browser.

Cause:

1. Configuration assistant of the router is enabled
2. The browser may also be trying to detect a proxy server on the LAN.

Steps to disable the NETGEAR configuration assistant.

1. Launch the URL: www.routerlogin.com to acess the welcome screen of the router 

2. If you are using Internet Explorer , Go to Tools menu and click on Internet options.
   • Turn off any pop up blocker
   • Delete Cookies and temporary internet files
   • Under Temporary Internet Files click Settings and Select Every Visit to the Page
   • Click on Connection and Ensure that “Never dial a connection” is selected
   • Go to LAN settings and uncheck all the options
   • Go to Programs and Reset Web settings
   • Go to Advanced and Restore Default 
3. From a wired computer (connected by an ethernet cable to the router), open Internet Explorer and go to the URL: www.routerlogin.com/CA_HiddenPage.htm 
4. This URL will prompt us either to Enable or Disable the configuration assistant  

2. Click Disable Configuration Assistant and apply the settings.

     The NETGEAR Welcome screen should not come up and you should be able to use your browser properly.

No Internet Through the Router.

Unable to go online from the router.
These steps are applicable for Routers only [like WNDR3300, WNR3500, WNR834B and WNR854T] not for Modems.

Step 1 : Disconnect the computer from the router and connect it to the modem.
Ensure that the computer is not assigned a static IP Address.
Turn the computer OFF and the Modem OFF.
Turn ON the Modem, than the Computer.
If you are able to go online, good.
If Not, Contact the Internet Provider.

Step 2 : If you are able to go online from the modem, follow these steps :
Connect the computer back to the router and the router to the modem as before.
Check the Internet LED is lit. If it is not, troubleshoot light status, as explained in the router manual. Check the LEDs for the ports with cables are lit. If not, move the cable to a different port. If there are still no lights, then troubleshoot light status, as explained in the router manual.

Step 3 : Power OFF the router and power it ON aftre some time [say 10 seconds].

Step 4 : Try Going Online. If still you cannot connect to the Internet, TryResetting the router as explained here.

Step 5 : After resetting the router, Open the setup page and configure the router yourself or you can try the SmartWizard.
SmartWizard helps the router discover whether you have a static or dynamic IP address, and whether you are using PPPoE to connect to your ISP.
If Dynamic IP Address is discovered, its good. If PPPoE or Static IP Address is recovered, you need to configure the router with the ISP settings yourself.

Step 6 : Now turn the Router and the Modem OFF. Turn On the Modem first than the Router.

There are 8 internal antennas to adjust to interference and increase the range of the Wireless Router. The Quality of Service (QoS) is built in RangeMax which prioritizes the traffic based on different applications such as VOIP, Video and Gaming. It automatically assigns the right priority to the top applications you use. At present supports 4 type of QoS those are : Applications, Online gaming, MAC address and Ethernet LAN Port. WNDR3300 doesn’t support wireless repeating at this moment. When you open the setup page of the router, on the first screen the router will look for the latest firmware and automatically update it.

WGR614 : 54 Mbps Wireless Router

Forgotten or Lost Router's Password

How to recover the password for the router ?

• The router username is always admin
• The default password is password or [for older routers the password is : 1234].

If these settings dont work, than a reset is required. When the router is reset, all the information on the router is lost. The router becomes like a brand new device from the factory. The information that is losty can include the ISP Username and Password, IP addresses, security keys, Wireless Encryption and ports and services that were opened. These settings will need to be done again.

So ensure that you have the ISP information by handy before resetting the router.

• Press the reset button on the back [Rear Side of the router] until the test light blinks. This takes about 10 seconds. (Use a pen or paperclip to press it.)
• Release the button.
• Wait for the router to reboot [Wait until the lights on the router stop flashing].
• Try accessing the router with the default password.
• If you are not able to login with the default password, try the folowing steps.
• Unplug the router's power [Turn the router OFF].
• Press and hold the reset button. While the button is held down, reconnect router's power.
• Keep presseing the reset button for 20 seconds after reconnecting the power.
• Wait for the router to reboot. Try logging with the default password.
• Should work :)

For FR314, FR318, and FV318 :
These routers require reloading the firmware in order to recover the lost password. Download the most recent firmware from NETGEAR's Web site before proceeding.
